Life’s Simple 7
The American Heart Association’s mission is to build lives free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. We hope that you take time each day to do something healthy for your heart. Even simple, small changes can make a big difference in living a better life. Known as “Life’s Simple 7,” these steps can help add years to your life:
1) don’t smoke;
2) maintain a healthy weight;
3) engage in regular physical activity;
4) eat a healthy diet;
5) manage blood pressure;
6) take charge of cholesterol;
7) keep blood sugar, or glucose, at healthy levels.

Start! Heart Walk
You are welcome to join thousands of walkers in the 18th Annual Puget Sound Heart Walk as they step out to have fun, get inspired, & support a meaningful cause at one of the largest Heart Walks in the country! On Saturday, October 15th thousands of walkers will meet at the Seattle Center for a walk through Downtown Seattle. After the walk, take your children for fun activities at the Kids Zone, watch local bands perform, and visit each of the American Heart Association villages - Create Hope, Inspire Change, and Celebrate Success - to learn more about your heart health. Our team is "Easy Striders" - why not join us?
Why join the Heart Walk?
The money raised through the Start! Heart Walk (and fundraisers like this O'Donnell's Tour de Poker) fund research at local and initiatives that promote the prevention, treatment and better patient care in the areas of cardiovascular disease, the leading killer in the United States. The American Heart Association is the nation’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of heart disease and stroke.
